Presenter: FR. LIBOR MAREK 8-week Course (Mondays) Monday, October 12 - Monday, November 30 7:00PM - 8:30PM in Overflow Room

Body of St. Maria Goretti is Making a Pilgrimage to the United States

We had about 8000 visitors who venerate St. Maria Goretti

Known as the Patroness of Mercy, St. Maria forgave her murderer even in the midst of horrendous physical suffering, a forgiveness that would completely convert him and set him on a path to personal holiness.

In his own words, "Maria’s forgiveness saved me." "I forgave Alessandro Serenelli … and I want him with me in Heaven forever." - St. Maria Goretti

September 30—From the Vatican, the Apostolic Penitentiary issued a Plenary Indulgence under the usual conditions for all those who go to venerate St. Maria Goretti during the September—November tour. In addition to veneration of St. Maria Goretti, the decree calls for the usual conditions to be met by pilgrims to gain the indulgence for themselves or for the deceased. A person must be in the state of grace: Make a sacramental Confession, receive the Holy Eucharist, pray for the intentions of the Holy Father, the Supreme Pontiff, and have the interior disposition of being detached from sin, even venial sin

*Note: The Catholic tradition of venerating relics is not worship but a way to honor and draw near to the saints, and to petition for their prayers, since they are believed to be with God (Wisdom 3:1). Fr. Martins’ explanation of the Catholic practice of the veneration of relics, complete with references for its scriptural foundation
