In the Archdiocese of Detroit: Creating Safe Environments 

Step One: Go to the website of the Archdiocese of Detroit:

Step two: Click on the area titled:  “Personal Safety and Sex Abuse Prevention Programs”

Then click on “Attend a mandatory VIRTUS workshop”  for the Protecting God’s Children Workshop. (PGC)

Step Three: Sign up online and attend this mandatory PGC workshop.  There is a large list of choices for this workshop in various locations around the Archdiocese of Detroit.  There are daytime,  afternoon and evening times.  (Some time slots include a light meal in the evening.)  You and your spouse are encouraged to both attend. You will receive a copy of a certificate proving your attendance.  These PGC certificates do not expire.

Step Four:  Mandatory Criminal Background check forms

·        Mandatory criminal background check forms are to be submitted it to Deacon Gerald at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Parish Office, prior to anyone volunteering in any capacity with children in the Little Flowers/Little Women Programs. 

·        You must complete this background check form and register for a PGC class prior to our first meeting with girls on October 16, 2009.

·        Background Checks expire after seven years.  You can download a background check form from the “pdf file” on this website as well.
